Products
What are Golden Essence’s hero products?
Our most popular products are Castor Oil, Magnesium Oil, Epsom Salt, and Magnesium Bath Flakes. These essentials are trusted by both individual customers and bulk buyers.
Is your Castor Oil “virgin”?
“Virgin” isn’t a standard descriptor for castor oil like it is for olive or coconut oil. We specify cold-pressed, hexane-free and (where noted) organic — the quality markers that matter.
What’s the difference between Epsom Salt and Magnesium Bath Flakes?
- Epsom Salt = magnesium sulphate (heptahydrate), popular for relaxation, foot baths, and general soaks.
- Magnesium Bath Flakes = magnesium chloride, a mineral-rich option many customers prefer for full-body baths.
Does castor oil help with hair growth?
Castor oil is widely used as a nourishing carrier oil for scalp and hair. We don’t make medical or therapeutic claims; many customers like it for hydration and as part of a hair-care routine. For concerns like hair loss, please seek professional advice.
Shop Castor OilWhy is “magnesium oil” called oil if it’s water-based?
It’s a high-concentration magnesium chloride brine. It feels slightly slick on skin, which is why it’s commonly called “oil,” even though it contains no fats/lipids.
Shop Magnesium OilHow to Use
How do I use Castor Oil?
- Skin & massage: Apply directly to skin or mix 1:1 with lighter oils like jojoba or fractionated coconut.
- Hair & scalp: Massage into scalp or lengths, leave for 30–60 minutes, then shampoo out.
Tip: Slight cloudiness in cool weather is normal. Warm the sealed bottle in a mug of warm water to restore clarity.
Shop Castor OilCan I use castor oil on eyebrows or lashes?
Some customers use a tiny amount on brows as part of their cosmetic routine. Avoid contact with eyes; apply sparingly with a clean spoolie; always patch test and discontinue use if irritation occurs.
How do I use Magnesium Oil?
- Spray onto arms, legs, or shoulders and massage in.
- A mild tingling can occur for first-time users and usually settles.
- For sensitive skin, apply after showering on damp skin or rinse off after ~20 minutes, then moisturise.
How much Epsom salt or magnesium flakes should I add to a bath?
- Bath: Many customers use 1–2 cups of Epsom Salt or Magnesium Bath Flakes.
- Foot soak: ½–1 cup in warm water for ~20 minutes.
Start low and adjust to preference. These are general at-home routines, not medical directions.
Can I mix Epsom salt and magnesium flakes together?
Yes — some customers like a blend. You can start at ~1 cup total and adjust your ratio over time.
How long should magnesium oil stay on the skin?
Many users leave it on and let it fully absorb. If you prefer, rinse off after ~15–20 minutes and follow with a moisturiser — especially if your skin is sensitive.
Can I apply magnesium oil before bed?
Yes — lots of customers use it as part of an evening routine. If you’re new to it, start with a small amount and patch test first.
Can I dilute magnesium oil with water?
Yes — many first-time users make a simple 1:1 mix with water in a spare spray bottle to soften the initial tingle. Adjust the ratio over time and apply to clean, dry skin.
Can I blend your products with essential oils?
Yes. Castor oil pairs well with jojoba or coconut oil. Bath salts and flakes can be mixed with a few drops of essential oil for a custom soak. Keep essential oils within safe cosmetic percentages and always patch test.
Packaging
Are your bottles food safe?
Yes. We use food-grade HDPE plastic bottles (BPA-free) and pharmaceutical amber glass bottles where applicable. These help protect product quality and shelf life.
Plastic vs amber glass — which should I choose?
- Amber glass: Best for light-sensitive oils and long-term storage.
- HDPE plastic: Durable, lightweight, and easy to handle in larger sizes.
Browse amber pharma bottles and food-grade plastic options.
Can I reuse and refill the bottles?
Yes — wash, rinse, and dry thoroughly before refilling. Avoid introducing water into oils. For repeated refills, consider amber glass for long-term storage.
What packaging void fill do you use?
We use Envirofill Bio-Fill — an Australian-made, 100% biodegradable and compostable packing material. It’s designed to protect your order in transit while minimising environmental impact.
- Environmentally friendly: Breaks down naturally without leaving harmful residues.
- Lightweight & protective: Reduces shipping costs while providing cushioning for delicate items.
- Reusable: Durable enough to use again before composting.

By using Envirofill, we reduce plastic waste while ensuring your products arrive safely.

Request DocumentsSafety & Compliance
Why do products say “for external use only”?
We supply our range primarily for cosmetic and wellness applications. Labelling products “for external use only” keeps usage clear and helps us comply with Australian advertising and therapeutic goods guidelines. We do not provide directions for internal use.
Why does magnesium oil tingle or sting?
A temporary tingle is a common first-use experience with concentrated magnesium chloride brines. Try applying to clean, dry skin, using a smaller amount, or applying after a shower and moisturising after.
Is castor oil comedogenic?
Castor oil is a rich, occlusive carrier oil. Some skin types tolerate it well; others may prefer blending with lighter oils and patch testing first, especially for facial use.
Is magnesium oil suitable during pregnancy or for children?
We do not provide medical advice. If you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, or considering use for children, please consult a qualified health professional first. We do not recommend use on toddlers.
Storage & Shelf Life
How should I store oils and salts?
- Keep sealed in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.
- Wipe bottle threads and closures clean after use.
- Reseal salts promptly to limit moisture and clumping.
What is the shelf life?
- Castor Oil: up to ~24 months.
- Magnesium Oil: up to ~24 months.
- Epsom Salt & Magnesium Bath Flakes: up to ~3 years if kept sealed and dry.
Always check the product label for best-before information and batch details.
